AmpliTex is an extremely lightweight natural material that is used in aerospace, Formula 1 and, for example, parts of Polestar cars. It is a material with 68% less emissions than polyester.
The company recently won the BMW Innovation Award. BMW is now even one of the shareholders in the company.
The natural fibre solutions ampliTex™ and powerRibs™ offer environmental benefits, viable end-of-life options and excellent vibration damping.
In 2024 we start to produce our first sustainable boat, fully made of Amplitex and Fairpoxy; a biobased resin.
The first boat that we are building with Amplitex and Fairpoxy consists of 3 cores.
Core 1: ampliTex™ 350, bi-axial
Core 2: ampliTex™ Power ribs
Core 3: ampliTex™ 500, Twill 4/4
Each layer is laid by hand and impregnated with Fairpoxy. The combination of Amplitex and Fairpoxy ensures a balanced lightweight hull with enormous strength and stiffness; approximately 3x as strong as a polyester hull.
Epoxy and polyester are often confused with each other. They are both 2-component liquids that harden into an artificial material. But epoxy is more suitable for boats than polyester.
Fairpoxy is a so-called Biobased premium epoxy (Dutch made!) with a high bio content of 29%. So we have two good reasons to gain experience with the combination of Fairpoxy and Amplitex.
The mechanical strength of Fairpoxy is 3 to 4 times higher than polyester!
