This entire structure was formed using a mould made from a relatively simple block of EPS (expanded polystyrene). After the block was CNC-cut to shape, it was coated with a thick layer of filler. Once the filler had cured, the CNC machine went to work again, refining the surface to a smooth finish — one nearly ready to be used as a direct mould.
It’s remarkable how large and complex forms like this can now be created digitally with such precision.
